Project Management Software for Public Works

Project management software for asset management (often called Capital Program Management or CIP software) is a specialized govtech platform designed to bridge the gap between a city’s long-term asset lifecycle data and the active engineering, procurement, and construction (AEC) projects required to build or repair that infrastructure. While standard asset management software tracks daily maintenance work orders (like fixing a single pothole), project management software for assets handles large-scale, multi-million-dollar capital improvement projects (like completely ripping out and replacing a three-mile stretch of water mains and road). This aggregated information provides a stronger and more accurate basis for local governments planning future resource allocation among projects, budgetary needs, and replacement timelines.

The MaintStar Project Management module extension for our Public Works Suite provides the ability to create and manage a multitude of projects and efforts through a single interface. Put simply, the Project module allows an organizations’ work orders, work effort, budget data and timelines into aggregated groups. This makes it extremely beneficial for planning and financial purposes as resources and costs can be easily reported by project number. Use examples can include capital improvement projects or storm/disaster events for FEMA reimbursement.
